Join the Dots!

These wonderful wines are made by sister and brother team, Heidi and Roman, at Weingut Pfaffl in the Weinviertel region of Austria, in certified sustainable vineyards around Vienna  (or Mozartworld as Disney would have it!). Their range of wines have won more awards than you can shake a stick at and they were recently voted European Winery of the Year - and it's easy to see why.

Ranch 32 Wines by Scheid

One of the latest additions to our wine portfolio are the Ranch 32 Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the Scheid Family. The name Ranch 32 relates to the place where Al Scheid (pictured with the Scheid family and team) planted his first vines in California's Monterrey County in 1972. At the time, winemaking was still in its infancy in California

Port & British Cheese

Port and cheese is just so quintessentially British isn't it? And it's never more so than at Christmas time when sales of both sky-rocket! Putting the festive tradition aside for a minute, with the style ranging from white Port, through aged Tawny styles and onto single vineyard and vintage Ports, there's no reason why Port shouldn't be consumed at any time of year! And with the wealth

Akashi-Tai Plum Sake

I'm sure you'll agree that nothing screams Christmas like Plum Sake. What? You've never even heard of Plum Sake?!! Fair enough, nor had I until a few years ago, but now, along with Bing Crosby, Burgundy, and Star Wars Lego, it's on my Christmas essentials list.

The Grape & The Groove at Christmas!

Christmas tunes: some people love them, some people not so much. Personally, if I never hear Mariah Carey's cash cow again that would be just fine! But I ain't no humbug;  I love a bit of 'Winter Wonderland', East 17's cringy 'Stay Another Day' makes me feel bewilderingly nostalgic, and I get misty-eyed at the final verse of 'Fairytale Of New York'.

Jacques' Whitmore & White Christmas

Jacques has been managing our shop in Frodsham for a couple of years now, and fresh from his starring role in ITV's Killer Camp this Halloween, we asked him about his plans for Christmas. Needless to say the waxing lyrical went on for some time, but who are we to argue with a man who got blown to bits in the back of a hay trailer on national television?

New Wine from Spain and Austria!

Our regular customers will know that we need little if any excuse to try new wines and pick a few new ones for our shelves in Heswall and Frodsham, or for selling here online for that matter. Is Autumn an excuse? Why yes, it is here... Here's Graham with a few top choices joining the Whitmore & White wine range this month from Spain and Austria!

New French Wine at Whitmore & White

Never one to stand still for long, Graham has returned from yet another arduous wine safari to bring another round of new wines to our shelves in Heswall and Frodsham, as well as being available online here! This time we're looking at three French wine producers, Domain Les Yeuses on the Mediterranean coast just south of Montpellier, Domaine Morin Langaran from just a little further south again and La Ferme du Mont in the Rhone.

The Grape & The Groove #3

My latest marriage of grape and groove tells the tale of how a Mexican guitar virtuoso was inspired by a boozy New York saxophonist to write a tune that would enthrall a celebrated author and grace a sunset over Spain's North Atlantic coast. The grape is
