W&W Welcomes HÃHÃ Wines

W&W Welcomes HÃHÃ Wines

We're thrilled to welcome two new bottles of fabulous New Zealand fizz to Whitmore & White this spring, so we asked Toni Fyvie, European Sales Manager at HÃHÃ Wine to give us an introduction to the wines and the makers! We can't explain in words quite how fantastic this stuff really is, you're just going to have to try it. And at just £14.95, you should probably try both!

HÃHÃ Wine is a toast to the full-flavoured goodness of Aotearoa, New Zealand. Not only does the HÃHÃ brand instantly bring a smile to everyone's face, but it also means savoury and luscious in New Zealand's Maori language, which sums up how all of our wines taste!

Founded in 2011 by Ashton Ireland, HÃHÃ Wines is a family-owned company based in Havelock North on the North Island. Our grapes are sustainably grown in the top two wine regions of New Zealand, Hawke's Bay and Marlborough.

We are delighted to have our two sparkling wines, the Brut Cuvée and Brut Rosé, stocked in Whitmore & White.

HÃHÃ Brut Rosé

HÃHÃ Brut Rosé - 56% Chardonnay and 44% Pinot Noir. This is an elegant wine with a hint of floral and watermelon, bursting with summer berries and a refreshing, dry finish.

HÃHÃ Brut Cuvée - 54% Chardonnay and 46% Pinot Noir. On the palate, a creamy peach ripeness combines with biscuity brioche, nutty notes and lemon flavours.

This wine is just the right amount of sweetness balanced with a crisp, drier finish.

Our bubbles expert winemaker is Gary Duke, who worked for 24 years as head winemaker for Hunters Winery, which is one of the iconic wineries that helped put New Zealand wine on the map.

Gary absolutely loves making bubbles (as much as he loves playing golf)! He has a great palate and a long history of making award-winning sparkling wine in New Zealand and Australia.

Both of our bubbles are a blend of two classic Champagne grapes - Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, made in the Charmat method, much like how Prosecco is made. With the base wines aged on lees for five years, the end result is two gorgeous, fine-beaded Cuvée's, with enriching aromas, appetising delicious palates and elegant dry finishes. HÃHÃ wines are available in store in Heswall and Frodsham as well as available to buy here online.
