Alternatives to Everyday Supermarket Wines
Montevista Cabernet Sauvignon
Lashings of blackcurrant and liquorice with this wine. Smooth and supple with excellent balance. Well worth that bit extra. Try this instead of Casillero del Diablo and McGuigan Cabernet Sauvignons.
Vigneti del Salento I Muri Primitivo
This is as rich and ripe and fruity (naturally) compared to many of these overtly sweet styles from supermarkets. Try upgrading from Yellow Tail Shiraz, Merlot and all supermarket own brand Ripassos.
Killibinbin Seduction Cabernet Sauvignon
With a label every bit as striking, this is truly a seductive red wine. I cannot stress how good this wine is. Try instead of 19 Crimes Red and Wolf Blass reds.
Ribbonwood Sauvignon Blanc
As fresh as a daisy and as fruity as a...well a big bowl of fruit I'd say. Classy Marlborough Sauvignon. Divert to this from Brancott Estate, Oyster Bay and Villa Maria Sauvignon Blancs.
Beronia Rioja Crianza
Aged for almost the same length of time as the Campo Viejo, but this Crianza knocks spots off it! Lush, smooth and vanilla laden red fruit abound. A seriously good Rioja. Knock the Campo Viejo Rioja Reserva on the head and opt for this instead.
Montevista Chardonnay
Ripe peach, mango and citrus fruit notes with a creamy mouthfeel to this lovely sunshiny Chilean Chardonnay. Try in place of Lindeman's and Hardy's Crest Chardonnay.
