Torre Del Falasco Amarone
TASTING NOTE
Aromas of plums, prunes, figs and raisins with a cinnamon and nutmeg edge on the nose. The palate is rich and ripe with bittersweet cherry and raisin notes. The tannins are smooth and supple and the finish just goes on forever.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
The Torre del Falasco wines are the standard bearer of the Cantina di Valpantena co-operative. Based northeast of Verona in the foothills of the Dolomites, with 700 hectares of land under vine, this is one of Italy's best co-operatives.
The Corvina and Rondinella grapes come from the steeply terraced vineyards. After harvesting, the grapes are dried for a minimum of four months in the drying centre at the winery. This allows them to lose moisture and concentrate the sugars in the grapes. Afterwards, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks then macerated for three weeks. After fermentation, the wine is matured in French oak barriques for 18 months before being bottled.
