TASTING NOTE
Sweet butterscotch, vanilla and honey on the nose. The palate is smooth with notes of sweet fudge, citrus, honeycomb and vanilla leading to a lingering finish.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER

The Royal Lochnagar Distillery is based in Lochnagar, Royal Deeside, near to Balmoral Castle.

As it turns out, in 1824, the first Lochnagar distillery was burnt down in 'suspicious circumstances' and a replacement again burnt down in 1841. In 1845 the "new" Lochnagar was built by John Begg. In 1848 Begg invited Prince Albert to visit the distillery from Balmoral Castle, the Queen's residence in the Highlands. The next day the distillery was visited by Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and their children. They were so impressed that the distillery was awarded its Royal Warrant thereafter.

Today Royal Lochnagar is owned by Diageo, and the distillery produces a relatively small amount of whisky, most of which is used in Johnnie Walker black and blue label, although a 12yo Malt and a Selected Reserve Malt are produced under the Royal Lochnagar label.
