TASTING NOTE

This is another staff favourite here at W&W. This is a black-ruby red with violet undertones. On the nose are red berry aromas with subtle hints of warm spice. Full-bodied with pert tannins, this is a well balanced wine with plenty of ripe dark red fruit flavours.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

The Vigneti del Salento vineyards are mostly situated in the communes of Manduria and Sava on the Southern "heel" of Italy. Production is lower than its potential, which ensures the best quality grapes are selected. The red soils are calcareous clay and rich in iron, minerals and nutrients. 80% of the grapes come from old bush vines and the rest from trained vines that are at least 20 years old.

The quality of Primitivo has been known in Italy for hundreds of years, but was mainly used for blending by wineries in Northern Italy that used it to give their wines depth. Primitivo is less well known outside of Italy as smaller producers find it difficult to reach international markets.
