Don't Crack Up this Easter!
I love Easter for so many reasons. Daffodils and crocuses peep through the soil which is starting to warm, the bank holiday is a welcome break and family celebrations return.
Traditions include decorating Easter eggs and hunting for them with children on Sunday morning, by which time they have been mysteriously hidden all over the house and garden - always a good idea to find them before the beloved pets do! Churches are decorated with pieces of art made by the local children who are rewarded with small chocolate treats. And after these traditions have been observed it's time for dinner.
Come Dine With Me
Whichever version of the Sunday roast you choose to impress your family with, don't forget the wine. Tom and Katie, our resident wine experts in Frodsham, have paired the nation's favourite Easter dinners with the best reds and whites:
For a minted lamb roast we would go with Leconfield Cabernet Sauvignon. A classic wine with a wisp of mint as well as cassis and blackberry.
Take it easy with a chicken, garlic and lemon tray bake and the delicious New Zealand Riverby Chardonnay. Toasty oak but really well balanced with crisp citrus acidity.
The vegetarian friendly Soraighe Valpolicella Ripasso is perfect with a nut roast; it's the smoothest operator in the world of wine, chock full of cherry with notes of cranberry and raspberry.
A mouthwateringly crispy roast pork is best paired with Alain Paret Cote de Rhone; a lovely easy going charmer with juicy red fruits, spice and enough acidity to cut through the crackling.
Egg-cited For Chocolate?
So, dinner is over, the dishes are done and it's time to put your feet up. Eating chocolate is a great way to unwind - it's true; it boosts serotonin levels that help us to feel relaxed.
